The most important characteristic of oil-immersed transformer is the use of transformer oil as insulation and heat dissipation medium. Functions of transformer oil:

Transformer oil pillow in three forms:

1. Capsule type oil pillow, inside which rubber capsule is used to separate transformer oil from the external atmosphere, and to provide space for expansion and contraction of transformer oil by heat.

2, diaphragm type oil pillow, use rubber diaphragm to separate the transformer oil from the external atmosphere, and to provide the transformer oil expansion and contraction of space.

3, corrugated oil pillow, with metal expander composed of corrugated metal pieces to separate the transformer oil from the external atmosphere, and to provide the transformer oil expansion and contraction space. Corrugated oil pillow is divided into two types: inner oil type and outer oil type. Inner oil type has better performance, but larger volume.

Structural principle of oil-to-oil pillow:

The main body of the oil pillow is a cylindrical container welded with steel plates, whose volume is about 10% of the tank volume. The oil pillow is installed horizontally on the top of the oil tank. The oil inside is connected to the transformer oil tank through the connecting pipe of the gas relay, so that the oil surface can rise and fall freely with the change of temperature. Normally, the lowest oil surface in the oil pillow should be higher than the raised seat of the high-pressure casing. For the casing with connected structure, the lowest oil surface in the oil pillow should be higher than the top of the casing. A glass oil level gauge (or oil level gauge) is installed on the side of the oil pillow to observe the change of oil level in the oil pillow at any time.
